2025 Standard Chartered Taipei Charity Marathon Runner Training Camp, First Session Kicks Off
Standard Chartered Bank, in collaboration with New Balance, has expanded its training camp for the 2025
marathon. The
camp is designed for runners in the 13KM and 21KM categories, offering a 12-week pre-race program with a total
of 6
training sessions. All participants receive the new Fresh Foam X 1080 v14 running shoes. This year’s camp aims
to
provide runners with expert training in both technique and gear, helping runners at various levels break their
personal
bests.
-
The First Session Begins with Ideal Weather
The first session was launched in a cool, comfortable morning, with enthusiastic participants showing
up for the
training. Under the guidance of Han-Hsuan Li and the professional coaches from New Balance Run Club
(NBRC), runners in
two groups followed personalized training schedules to understand the basics of pacing and breathing
rhythms, as well as
the crucial warm-up exercises.
-
Slow Running is Fine, but Never Skip the Warm-up!
The coaches guided the runners through joint exercises and a 10-minute easy jog to fully warm up the
body. Dynamic
stretches were incorporated to increase muscle flexibility. This was followed by the critical "Mark Drill"
– continuous
running that effectively activates the core muscles, ensuring the body is fully prepared for the workout
ahead. The
session concluded with slow jogging and static stretching to safely cool down muscles, significantly
reducing the risk
of injury.
-
Breathing and Arm Swing Training During 1-Mile Test
The session also included a simple 1-mile test combined with breathing and arm swing exercises to help
participants find
the right breathing rhythm. This reduces the likelihood of discomfort affecting performance and improves
coordination
between the upper and lower body, allowing runners to better manage their pace.
Although it was the first session, the runners were all experienced athletes, quickly adjusting their
energy levels to
match the training schedule. They also took advantage of any spare time to share experiences and tips. It
was evident
from their faces that they were all passionate about running. Many are already looking forward to the
third session!
This solid training program is designed to help runners reach their goals, while ensuring they can run
longer and
healthier. Let's get ready for the 2025 Standard Chartered Taipei Charity Marathon.
